We ask God to guide us as teachers to recognize your high calling and responsibility. Pray. Labor in the Word. Meditate on and ponder it. Invest the time needed to be able to listen carefully for the Spirit to speak and teach you; and then come share what you've learned with passion and conviction.

The Bible views teaching God’s Word as a vital, high-responsibility calling, In James 3:1, Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment, it is clear that teachers are held to a higher standard. This high standard requires integrity, sound doctrine, and a life that matches their teaching. (Titus 2:7-8) In all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with ]purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us. Teachers must diligently study, empower others to obey Scripture, and impart faith with patience.
Let’s take a closer look at these principles and what they mean for teachers of His Word.
-
High Accountability: James 3:1 explicitly warns that not everyone should be a teacher, because they will be judged more strictly.
-
Integrity and Sound Doctrine: Teachers must teach with sound speech that cannot be condemned and live as a model of good works.
-
The Goal is Maturity: Teaching is designed to mature believers, moving them from "milk" to "solid food" so they can discern good and evil.
-
Passing the Torch: Teachers are to entrust the Word to reliable people who can teach others. (2 Timothy 2:2) The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
-
Equipping for Work: Scripture is profitable for teaching, training in righteousness, and equipping believers for good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for ]training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
-
The Goal of Discipleship: The goal of biblical teaching is that the student becomes like the teacher—and through them, like Christ. (Luke 6:40) A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.
-
Essential Roles: Teachers are appointed by God to equip the church for ministry. (Ephesians 4:11-12) And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.
-
Empowered by the Spirit: Successful teaching is not just intellectual but empowered by the Holy Spirit.

A book recommended by Dr. Chris Bazal
The Treasure Principle
Discover how the joy of giving can make your life richer, starting today.
Bestselling author Randy Alcorn introduced readers to a revolution in material freedom and radical generosity with the release of the original The Treasure Principle in 2001. Now the revision to the compact, perennial bestseller includes a provocative new concluding chapter depicting God asking a believer questions about his stewardship over material resources.
Jesus spent more time talking about money and possessions than about heaven and hell combined. But too often we’ve overlooked or misunderstood his most profound teaching on this topic, from his words in Matthew 6. Jesus offers us life-changing investment advice. He actually wants us to store up treasures for ourselves—just not here on earth. Instead, he urges us to store our treasure in heaven, where they will await us, and last forever. We can’t take it with us—but we can send it on ahead!
|
Readers are moved from the realms of thoughtful Bible exposition into the highly personal arena of everyday life. Because when Jesus told His followers to “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,” He intended that they discover an astounding secret: how joyful giving brings God maximum glory and His children maximum pleasure. In The Treasure Principle, you’ll unearth a radical teaching of Jesus—a secret wrapped up in giving.
Once you discover this secret, life will never look the same. And you won’t want it to be.
Story Behind the Book
After years of writing and teaching on the theme “God owns everything,” in 1990 Randy Alcorn was sued by an abortion clinic (for peaceful, nonviolent intervention for the unborn). Suddenly he had to resign as a pastor and was restricted to making minimum wage. Legally unable to own anything, Randy gave all his book royalties to missions work and need-meeting ministries. He and his family have experienced the reality of The Treasure Principle—that God really does own everything, takes care of us, and graciously puts assets into our hands that we might have the joy and privilege of investing in what will last for eternity.

Media Team Needs Your Help
|
This is a new Paragraph block. Change the text. Our amazing Media Team is in real need of help. Our two "pilots" who handle our Sunday and Wednesday services are both dealing with various issues and workload. We MUST get them some help in this very important ministry. Our love and concern for them should inspire us to want to provide the help they need not just in the services, but for them personally. You don't have to be a "tech" person to do this. They will train you. If you can help, no matter the level of commitment you can offer, they would be so grateful. Please contact either Tommy Jenkins or Jackson Edmonds.
