TBC Youth Ministries
To The Parents
We have an active and flourishing youth ministry here at Temple. Youth are very important to us. Their salvation and spiritual growth are paramount. We know that salvation and spiritual growth are accomplished through sharing the message of Jesus Christ. While our youth ministry entails many events such as Backyard Bible Studies, concerts, the Move Conference and summer retreats, the highest priority is teaching the Bible and making sure a firm scriptural foundation is laid. As a pastor here in charge of youth ministry, this is where my heart is and also the hearts of the Youth leadership team. Romans 10:17 tells us, "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ".
We believe our decision to repent of our sin and place our faith in Jesus Christ and submit to His lordship is the most important decision a person will ever make. Our pledge to parents and young people is to teach them the infallible, inerrant Word of God.
To the Young People
Ok guys and girls, we filled your parents in on what goes on around here, now its your turn. I may be biased but we have a special group of young people around here and we have such good times together. I know it can be hard to get involved in new groups but this isn't one of them. Our young people are welcoming and loving and we enjoy making new friends. We have so many personalities around from hunters to gamers, wrestlers, bookworms, artists and everything in between. We are quite a diverse group but love one anothers company and we love the Lord. Let me give you a rundown of what we do...
Sunday Morning Lifegroups (Sunday School)-Our Lifegroups meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM where we discuss the scriptures and how to apply them to everyday life. We have a great time here and hope you will join us. If you'd like any information concerning L:ifegroups before you arrive, please call or text Pastor Shane, at (229)-289-5743. We would love to have you!
Wednesday Night Youth Minstry- We have a blast on Wednesday night. Bro Shane and Jason Pittman lead a Bible study for the boys, all ages, Mrs Yvonne Smith, Mrs Ashley Pittman and Mrs. Courtney Wiley lead a class for youth girls all ages. We play games, watch videos and comment on them, have Bible study and fellowship. Rec time begins at 6:30PM and Bible study at 7PM.
Backyard Bible Study-We have one of these as often as we can. We normally meet earlier for these, around 6:15pm at the church. Its a great time of fellowship. We have a deacon in our church, Mr Stan Pittman, that allows us to use one of his fields to have bonfires, roast marshmallows, eat pizza and play games or just hang out. (We don't force you to play!) Some just like to sit around the fire. Beans and Strings and Chik Fil A are also frequent hangouts. We really look forward to these. We finish the night with a Bible study. Transportation to the site is provided by the Youth Team or you can meet us at the site.
Summer Retreat- We have been to Lake Blackshear, Leguna Beach Christian Resort and also St George Island Christian Resort. We have a teaching theme for the weekend and typically use DNow (Discipleship Now resources) and True Love Waits that springboards a study for early fall. We have an AWESOME time! Volleyball, swimming, basketball, fishing, kayaking, crafts and just hanging out on the beach were a few activities.
So that's the Youth Ministry in a nutshell. We hope you'll come join us! There will be other events added to the website but the best way to stay in touch is through Facebook so shoot us a text to 229-289-5743 and we'll add you to the TBC Youth Ministries group. We post A LOT of info there. We look forward to seeing you!
