Help Hurricane Harvey Victims

posted Aug 30, 2017, 9:18 AM by Temple Baptist Church

Thank you for your many prayers and your desire to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas. I am in contact with my Disaster Response peers in Texas and other states preparing for the relief effort.

The most recent update I have is:

  • This disaster is already larger and has affected more homes than Hurricane Katrina.
  • The only group currently being allowed in is the military with high-clearance vehicles.
  • Evacuations have started in Lousiana

Let me share three things with you in this email that will hopefully help you in your response efforts: 1.) Our plans as credentialed Disaster Relief volunteers; 2.) Tangible opportunities for your church; and 3.) Our limitations as a Disaster Response ministry.

1.) I fully anticipate sending multiple teams to Texas, but not until I have a request to go, know where I’m headed, and the waters begin to recede. Our primary foci for this type of disaster includes mass feedings, childcare, chaplaincy, and mud-out. However, we cannot effectively perform any of those ministries until waters recede.

2.) What can you do?

a.) I trust you are already praying, which is the greatest thing any of us can offer.

b.) You can donate to DR efforts by clicking on the link below.  All proceeds will be used to help disaster victims.

c.) We are in need for credentialed volunteers! You can attend our upcoming DR Orientation on September 16 at New Providence Baptist in Forsyth. Information and registration can be found at www.gbcdisasterrelief.org.

d.) You can assemble and collect Buckets of Care.  Information is located atwww.gbcdisasterrelief.org, or click bucket ingredients and mud out instructions for PDF files.

e.) I would discourage you from collecting supplies unless you know that what you are collecting is needed, have the means to transport them, and know for certain you have someone there ready to receive and distribute them.

3.) As wonderful as the ministry of Disaster Relief is, we are limited. We are not first responders. We do not have the capacity to help with warehousing and transport of donations. Because of our agreements with other state conventions and relief organizations, we do not self-deploy. Our purpose is to serve those who are affected, which normally requires patience on our part.

I promise to do my best to maintain clear communication through multiple outlets: email, Facebook, and website. Please know that I am also dependent upon receiving information from my counterparts in those states that are affected by Harvey, and they are just a little busy!!

Thank you!

Celebrate Recovery News

I pray that all is well with everyone. We really have been blessed with an awesome group here at C.R. every Saturday night. Many thanks to all the people who make this ministry happen each and every week, especially to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For without Him none of this would be possible.

Our 4th anniversary is coming up on August 2nd, we will celebrate on the following Saturday night, August 11th. Come join us, bring your family and friends everyone is welcome. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program. We use the teachings of Jesus Christ to give those attending, the freedom from their hurts, habits and hand-ups. This also creates a very strong and personal relationship with God and others. What a blessing!

We are praying about starting step-studies very soon and are looking for volunteers to get involved. It is a year long study. Watch our weekly bulletin for more information to come in the near future. If you are seeking a spiritual blessing and would like to get involved in helping others find Jesus Christ, come join us, it will be a very fulfilling blessing.

Blessings,

Wade Hahn

Stop Summer Slump!

posted Jun 8, 2012, 11:49 PM by Temple Baptist Church   [ updated Jun 8, 2012, 11:49 PM by Brandon Whitaker ]

This is our annual mission in our LifeGroup and Sunday School ministry – make summer Sunday’s
exciting, fresh, and full of fun!

Summer has its own feeling to it – laid back, relaxed, and with no set schedules. However, we want to make sure that learning God’s Word never takes a holiday. So teachers & assistants, we are challenging you to keep up the awesome work you have been doing, and help your class have a great time this summer:

  • If you haven’t had a fellowship lately, then now is the time! Plan a pool party, a barbecue, a trip to the waterpark, a night at the movies – whatever you can do to create new relationships in your members.
  • Rearrange your classroom – nothing says “fresh” like a new look. Buy a new picture (or put up new posters), bring in a coffee maker (or take one out),  anything you can do to make your room different.
  • Rotate teachers – if you have those in your class who would like to try teaching, help them out and see what God does!
  • And contact, contact, contact your members! Vacations are great, but everyone wants to know they are missed!

These are just a few suggestions for making our summer at Temple incredible and impacting the Kingdom. If you have others to share, please let us know!

Joyfully serving with you,
Bro. Roger & Bro. Robert

Children’s Church Worship Ministry

posted Jun 8, 2012, 11:37 PM by Temple Baptist Church   [ updated Jun 8, 2012, 11:37 PM by Brandon Whitaker ]

We welcome all children to join us each Sunday morning during the Worship service ( birth-6th grade).

DISCOVERY – Babies (Making their first impression of God’s love last a lifetime)

TODDLERS -(Play and worship - Teach little ones the way they learn best by doing)

PRESCHOOL (2 & 3’s) & (4 & 5’s) Upbeat Bible learning that is fun and flexible and powerful with singing, shouting and celebrating God’s goodness and love. Children can build their worship foundation and focus on God in a personal way.

Our (2&3) yr olds have a new curriculum (HEARTSHAPER) which is built on concepts taught to young children, adding more Bible stories, multisensory experience, activities that stimulate imaginations, interactive Bible learning to group children to unique situations.

Do you have children attending children’s church, stay for a while, see how your children are learning from the Bible, ways to connect with God, and to trust him in their everyday lives.

PRAISE GOD FOR ALL THE LITTLE CHILDREN, WE ARE GROWING TREMENDOUSLY AND NEED HELP IN ALL AGE GROUPS.
As of now we have 2 adults (1teacher & 1 leader) in each class. We are in need of a 3rd helper for all age groups. Giving your service just once a month, will give you a blessing of a lifetime.
Contact Ann Taylor (891-6095) or the church office (890-1156) for more information.
